Bank letter for request for temporary residence as a rentier

Back to All Thought Leadership

In accordance with the General Law of Immigration and Immigration, and its respective regulations, all foreigners who request a temporary residence as an annuitant, must provide proof of the enjoyment of monthly income, coming from abroad or from Costa Rica, for a minimum amount of two thousand five hundred dollars.

When the income is generated in the national territory, the proof of said income must be issued by banks of the Costa Rican financial system; for which the DGME (General Directorate of Immigration and Immigration) made available to banking entities a recommended letter format for the demonstration of income, which we share and attach.

The use of said format is totally and completely optional; however, we believe that it provides a clear and concise idea of what the immigration authorities require to comply with said requirement.

The process of temporary residence as an annuitant is regulated in article 82 of Law 8764 and its requirements are established from article 99 of the Immigration Regulations.
