The Council of Europe announced the establishment of the Register of Damage Caused by the Aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine through an Enlarged Partial Agreement dated 12 May 2023. The Register is signed by 43 member states of the Council of Europe and representatives of the European Union, the USA, Canada and Japan.
Key points about the Register
The Register will:
Serve as a documentary record of evidence and information on claims for damage, loss, or injury caused by Russian aggression against Ukraine;
Process information and evidence on claims for damage, which is confidential;
Categorise claims, assess and determine the eligibility of claims.
