Shweta Shroff Chopra is a Partner in the Firm’s Competition Law Practice, and has over 14 years’ experience in advising on financing, corporate and competition law matters.

Shweta has been practicing competition law since its early days in India, having been involved in several high profile cases relating to cartels, abuse of dominance and merger control. Shweta’s clients include prominent names such as TemasekTPG, MitsuiBHP BillitonExxonMobilAlstomBlackstoneVodafoneWalmart, Inc., JK GroupCoal IndiaLafarge HolcimTata ChemicalsHiranandani Hospitals and PVR Cinemas.

Shweta has been engaged in leading high profile enforcement cases before the Competition Commission of India (CCI), National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT), and Supreme Court of India including representing:

  • Vodafone India Limited in an alleged anti-competitive denial of points of inter-connection to Reliance Jio;
  • JK Tyres in the Tyre Cartel case;
  • ACC Limited in the Cement cartelisation case;
  • Hiranandani Hospitals in the abuse of dominance and vertical restraints case involving stem cell banks; and
  • SpiceJet in the Fuel Surcharge cartelisation case

Recently, she has successfully defended:

  • Flipkart against allegations of preferential treatment and discrimination;
  • Indo National Limited in a price-fixing cartel before the CCI; and
  • Globecast Asia Pte Ltd in their leniency application before the CCI, and was successful in obtaining a 100% reduction in penalty for Globecast and its officials
