Eduardo Díaz Gavito joined Chevez Ruiz Zamarripa in 2004 and was admitted to the partnership on January 1, 2013. His practice focuses on customs law, international trade, free trade agreements, Agreements of the World Trade Organization, defense against unfair trade practices (dumping and subsidies), and antitrust. He has vast experience as litigator in complex matters before federal courts, including the Supreme Court of Justice.

He was part of the Mexican Mission to the World Trade Organization, participating in the State-State dispute settlement mechanism. He has been a panelist in procedures under the North American Free Trade Agreement, and as expert witness before panels under the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) of the World Bank. Eduardo has advised foreign governments on international trade and unfair trade practices.

He has lectured on international trade and customs matters at Colegio de México, Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Campus Santa Fe (ITESM), Universidad Panamericana (UP) and Universidad Iberoamericana (UIA). He co-authored the chapter on Mexico in “Guide to International Anti-dumping Practice”, Kluwer Law, 2013.

  • Vice-Chair (Rule of Law) of the Customs Committee of the American Bar Association (IBA), Section of International Law.

  • Law Degree (J.D.), with honors (ITAM).
  • Diploma on WTO law from the Institut de hautes études internationales, Geneva.
  • Diploma on international commercial arbitration from Escuela Libre de Derecho (ELD), in coordination with the International Chamber of Commerce (México).
