Mónica Bonnett is an Associate at Posse Herrera Ruiz. Her practice focuses on health records, litigation, unfair competition and piracy associated with intellectual property (IP).

Her experience includes filing, prosecution, and enforcing patents, industrial designs, utility model rights, IP litigation, unfair competition associated with IP, piracy, and health records. Due to her experience, handling big patent portfolios from U.S., Asia, and Europe, Monica is the person in charge of developing business relationships with international clients.

She has advised American, European, and Asian clients in various fields of technology: bio, life- science, vegetables, telecommunications, software, consumer products, and pharma. Likewise, she has participated in technology-transfer negotiation processes between Colombian and multinational companies, achieving win-to-win agreements.

Monica has assisted Universities, the Colombian Government, and Colombian companies in organizing and protecting their IP assets through a variety of Consultancy Services (Confidential Information protocols, IP diagnoses, and innovation, among others).

Before joining Posse Herrera Ruiz she worked as an Intellectual Property Associate in law firms and as a private advisor of the Head of the Colombian PTO advising the Colombian Government in patents. Also, within her working experience in the U.S., she developed businesses and relationships with American law firms, companies, technological hubs, and the City of San Francisco helping or advising them to protect their IP assets in the 23 countries of Latin America.

She received a J.D. from Universidad del Rosario and a specialization degree in Consumer and Competition Law from Universidad Externado de Colombia. Her native language is Spanish and she is fluent in English.
