Laura Ruiz joined Pérez-Llorca in 2007 and was appointed partner in January 2021. Throughout these years she has advised national and international clients in all types of litigation and arbitration in civil and commercial matters. Lately he has focused his work on the bankruptcy and corporate area. In 2013, Laura enjoyed a secondment in Stockholm, at the Mannheimer Swartling firm’s headquarters.

Laura’s insolvency practice includes both advice to debtors (advice in stages prior to the bankruptcy, approval of refinancing agreements, preparation and presentation of bankruptcy and bankruptcy processing) and to their shareholders and administrators, as well as advice to creditors in the different phases of the contest.
Laura has acted in all types of legal proceedings within the bankruptcy: contesting the inventory and the list of creditors, rescission actions or incidents of contract resolution. Likewise, it has intervened in corporate actions within the bankruptcy (contesting corporate resolutions) and in the rating piece of the bankruptcy (either defending the interests of the administrators, or of the creditors).
In addition, Laura advises, together with the Firm’s transactional teams, in the sale of productive units and, in general, of assets, either in the common phase (with judicial authorization) or in the liquidation phase in any of its variants (auction, direct sale or dation in payment).
The specific sectors in which advice has been provided include engineering, real estate, energy, airlines, highway administrative concessions, tourism, retail, shipyards, etc.
Laura has advised on civil and commercial litigation of different types such as energy, insurance, sponsor contracts, letters of sponsorship, financial derivatives, construction, distribution, responsibility of social administrators, challenge of social agreements, real estate and corporate sales and tort law.
In addition, Laura has experience in arbitration, whether international or domestic, institutional or ad hoc. At the national level, he has participated in important arbitrations administered by the Madrid Court of Arbitration (CAM) and the Spanish Court of Arbitration (CEA) in relation to construction, engineering and financial derivatives contracts. At the international level, Laura has participated in important arbitrations administered by the Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), mainly on corporate law and engineering.
Doctrinal and teaching collaboration
Laura has also taught at the Madrid Bar Association, in the Master’s Degree in Access to the Legal Profession of the Carlos III University (Bankruptcy Law) and in the Master’s Degree in Access to the Legal Profession of IE (Procedural Law).
Laura has collaborated in the training of the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid team for the international Moot Madrid competition and participates as a referee in said competition.

“Arbitration Code” (Aranzadi, 2017), volume in which the provisions and regulations applicable to arbitration are compiled and discussed.
“Commentary to Regulation (EU) No. 1215/2012 regarding judicial competence, the recognition and execution of judicial decisions in civil and commercial matters”.
