Mark is a trial attorney whose litigation practice focuses on product liability cases. He is a first-chair trial lawyer who has tried personal injury cases to verdict in 11 states and has participated in trials in nine other states. Mark currently serves as the State Chair of the American College of Trial Lawyers.

  • Has tried asbestos personal injury cases to verdict in California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Washington State, and West Virginia, and has participated in asbestos personal injury trials in Alabama,  Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
  • Handled a six-week trial to verdict in a mesothelioma product liability case involving a $20.5 million exposure in a plaintiff-friendly venue (June 2013).
  • Recent asbestos personal injury trial verdicts on Sept.17, 2015, June 21, 2013, May 17, 2011, Apr. 25, 2008, Oct. 26, 2006, March 1, 2006, Aug. 14, 2005, May 19, 2005, Jan. 27, 2005, Aug. 20, 2003, Nov. 1, 2002, and Oct. 18, 2001.
  • Presently involved in extensive litigation for senior living facilities.
  • Handled a dram shop trial to verdict for a national restaurant chain (Jan. 9, 2014).
  • Handled a two-week federal trial to verdict for an automobile manufacturer, which arose under the state and federal Dealers Day in Court Act (Feb. 18, 2009).
  • Has handled the defense of more than 200 synthetic stucco (Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems – EIFS) cases for South Carolina homebuilders, including the first trial of a South Carolina EIFS case (May 2000) and another homebuilder’s synthetic stucco case to verdict (April 30, 2002).
  • Trial experience encompasses building product, construction, commercial, general liability, product liability, and other personal injury cases in South Carolina and in other venues across the United States, during well over 30 years of practice.
