Chile’s diplomatic relations with China began 50 years ago, and Carey law firm has played a pivotal role in supporting the relationships between Chilean companies and the Asian giant. In 2008, Carey carried out the first historic legal advisory to Banco de Chile on a loan provided by the China Development Bank. In 2016, the firm opened an office in Shanghai and created the China Desk. Since then, Carey has maintained a close relationship with China, and they strive to continue accompanying Chinese businesses on their forays into Chile.
To commemorate this momentous anniversary, Carey collaborated with Wines of Chile to host an afternoon of virtual cooking. The event was led by two renowned chefs as well as a sommelier, and the participants included former president Eduardo Frei, the Chilean ambassador to China, Luis Schmidt , the wine entrepreneur, Aurelio Montes, and members of the Carey China Desk.
