Experienced Energy, Infrastructure Attorney Prem Malali Joins Nelson Mullins in New York

NEW YORK – Prem N. Malali has joined Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP as a partner in its New York office. He joins from Murtha Cullina, where he was a partner.
Malali represents developers, lenders, contractors, sponsors, financial institutions, and equity investors in connection with the development, construction, debt and tax equity financing, and transfer of numerous energy and other infrastructure projects with a particular focus, in recent years, on renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure. He has been lead counsel to various industry participants on dozens of large and notable transactions in the energy and infrastructure space.
“Prem is a welcome addition to our growing energy group,” said Larry Ostema, who co-leads the group along with partner Weston Adams. “Prem has a deep background in the renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure space, and we look forward to his becoming a part of our team.”

Adams noted that Malali has a reputation as a lawyer who is easy to work with, creative, and knowledgeable on market terms. “Prem is a highly regarded transactional attorney known for his effective diplomacy in the deal setting,” he said.

Malali has represented buyers and sellers of infrastructure projects in the context of negotiated sales and competitive auctions and served as lead counsel to the U.S. Department of Energy Loan Guarantee Program in connection with several high profile renewable energy projects.

He earned his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, an M.S. from Johns Hopkins University, and a B.S. from Bangalore University.
