Liedekerke: Profound Sadness at the Passing of Jacques de Liedekerke

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jacques de Liedekerke, one of the founding partners of our firm

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jacques de Liedekerke, honorary lawyer at the Brussels Bar, former member of the Council of the Order and one of the founding partners of our firm, on Saturday 30 July 2022.

Jacques was a brilliant lawyer who together with Adrien Wolters (†), John Kirkpatrick (†) and Michael Waelbroeck founded Liedekerke Wolters Waelbroeck Kirkpatrick which, today, still embodies the principles and standards the firm was built on in 1965. He was a pioneer and visionary leader whose exceptional work ethic, long term commitment to his clients and leadership skills made him truly one of a kind.

Aimery de Schoutheete, Partner at Liedekerke comments: I had the privilege of being hired as a trainee on 1 September 1986 by Jacques de Liedekerke and Adrien Wolters. His mentoring brought immense value to my and other lawyers’ personal and professional development, for which I am extremely grateful. Jacques was, in the 20th century, the very spirit of our firm and we owe much of what we have today to him.

Jacques will be lovingly remembered by many who had been honoured to know him. On behalf of all Liedekerke members, we extend our deepest sympathies to Jacques’ family.
