The Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive

Back to All Thought Leadership

On 23 February 2022, the European Commission published its long-awaited proposal for a Directive on Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence, which is in line with the human rights- and environment-related objectives set out in the European Green Deal and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The European Commission’s proposal envisages to impose corporate due diligence duties on large EU and third-country companies in order to address adverse human rights and environmental impacts of their own operations and those of their subsidiaries and value chains.

Our Corporate and M&A team summarises the key takeaways of the European Commission’s proposal here.
