The End of Globalization?

Back to All Thought Leadership

In an article published by ACC Docket, Nelson Mullins partner Jay Rogers and Andrew Rink of JELD-WEN discussed how the end of globalization could present multiple obstacles for attorneys who advise clients with operations abroad.

The geopolitical shift of de-globalization will impact the practice of law, Rogers and Rink wrote, and the authors warned readers of the challenging days ahead for attorneys and in-house counsel in particular.

“Since World War II, American lawyers and their business clients have had the luxury of largely ignoring national borders in deciding where to do business overseas,” wrote Rogers and Rink. “That era has ended. In the new world order, national borders are back with a vengeance. Lawyers must understand how to navigate in these new waters, which include the complex trade laws of both the United States and its trading partners, if they are to effectively advise their employers and clients and avoid the shoals ahead.”

Rogers has advised U.S. and foreign companies across a range of industries and provides corporate counsel to businesses.
