In Honduras, certificates of authenticity issued by public notaries play a crucial role in the validation of legal documents. It is a certification of public faith that creates certainty to the acts and contracts celebrated between natural or juridical, national or foreign, public or private persons, which guarantees the legal security and the perpetual constancy of these, Honduran legislation regulates two types of Certificates of Authentication: The Authentication of Signatures, which has the value of a reliable testimony that certifies the fact that on a certain date, a signature has been placed by a certain person or on the contrary, the signature is of the knowledge of the notary, and on the other hand; the Authentication of photocopies or any other reproduction made by technological means, the notary will also summarily relate the original document and indicate the place or in whose possession it is, placing his half signature and seal on each   copy that is authenticated. – The notary may authenticate photocopies of different documents in the same certificate of authenticity and different signatures of several documents in a single certificate of authenticity as long as they are used for the same proceeding.
