Doing Business in Nicaragua

Back to All Thought Leadership

In Nicaragua, the principle of “Freedom of Enterprise” governs. Natural and legal persons, national or foreign, decide their form of organization and receive the same rights and guarantees. Relevant information to choose which option is best for your business is found below.

Local Company

Without prejudice to other permitted corporate forms, the most common business form in the country is the corporation, although there are also Limited Liability Partnerships (Sociedades Colectivas de Responsabilidad Limitada).

Natural Persons are also granted the power to formalize themselves as merchants through a General Regime (designed under the same accounting formalities as a company) and a Fixed Fee scheme designed as a simplified scheme for small taxpayers.
