Exchange of Tax Information with the United States

Uruguay has just signed an agreement (the “Agreement”) to facilitate the exchange of such information. This is provided that it could be foreseeably relevant for the calculation and collection of taxes, as well as for the investigation and prosecution of tax cases.

In principle, the Agreement does not allow for the exchange of tax information in respect of tax periods prior to its entry into force. This is unless the request for information is sent in the context of criminal proceedings.
