“If They Call Me, I’m Not Here” – The National “Do Not Call” Registry is Regulated

Last year we reported that, within the framework of the Accountability Law, the creation of the National “Do Not Call” Registry (“the Registry”) had been established.

As will be recalled, the Registry aims to protect users of telephone services (and telecommunications in general) from the abuses – sometimes harassment – of aggressive advertising, offer, sale and gift campaigns of unsolicited goods or services. 

In recent days, a Decree of the Executive Branch regulated the Registry (“the Decree”).

How does it work? Holders or users of telephone services, both fixed and mobile, must contact their telephone operator (Antel, Claro and Movistar), in order to begin the registration process through any of the enabled mechanisms (customer service telephone line). customer, text message or through the telephone operator’s website).
