Japan is considered to be behind when it comes to the adoption of LGBTQ+ policies. In 2020, Japan ranked 34th out of 35 countries in the LGBTQ+ index for OECD countries.1 Despite this, Japan is now beginning to show signs of change as will be discussed in this article.
