Norms favoring the development of AI in the Dominican Republic

Back to All Thought Leadership

Senior associate, Gilberto Objío, was recently interviewed by LexLatin in an article highlighting that the Dominican Republic is experiencing significant momentum in the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI), especially at the governmental level.

Gilberto highlights the importance of the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy (ENIA) and advocates for support measures, such as the training of specialized talent and the creation of an ethical legal framework for the successful development of AI in the country. In addition, he warns about the legal risks associated with AI and emphasizes the need to consider ethical aspects, transparency and explainability in the development of AI solutions in public administration.

He also highlights the importance of the legal sector adapting to the presence of ENIA, underlining the need for combined technical and legal skills, as well as offering recommendations for managing AI-related changes and opportunities, urging to stay informed, participate in the regulatory process, invest in compliance and risk management, foster an ethical culture and seek specialized legal advice.
