Advises IFC on US$75 Million Financing for Banco BHD

Back to All Thought Leadership

Recently, our firm advised the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, on a US$75 million financing package for Banco BHD, one of the Dominican Republic’s leading financial institutions.

The funds will be used to provide loans to SMEs in key sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing and tourism and to promote the financial inclusion of women entrepreneurs.

The financing aims to expand access to credit in Dominican pesos for small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs), particularly those led by women. SMEs are a fundamental pillar of the Dominican economy, accounting for 98% of the country’s businesses and employing more than half of the labor force. However, access to financing remains a challenge, especially for women entrepreneurs.

The firm’s team advising IFC was composed of Marielle Garrigó (Partner) and Eduardo Pellerano (Senior Associate).
