Today (4), we announce the arrival of Marcelo Mattos as our new partner in the Banking and Finance practice. Marcelo has extensive knowledge of the Brazilian regulations for the field, and over 30 years’ experience with large global financial corporations and in the oil and gas, mining, telecommunications, and naval industries. He is also renowned as a Maritime Law specialist.
With Marcelo Mattos, we now have 45 partners who combine their knowledge of various fields, contributing to the recognition of the excellence of the firm, which operates on a full-service model. In the Banking and Finance practice, the new partner will join the team led by Roberto Vianna do R. Barros and Jorge Gallo.
His participation in several merger and acquisition transactions marked the start of Marcelo Mattos’ career and professional history, as early as the 1990’s. In the naval sector, he started to advise shipowners, shipyards, and financiers and, at the Brazilian Bank of Economic and Social Development (BNDES), he worked to secure various funding operations using funds from Brazil’s Merchant Marine Fund (FMM).
The new partner also brings his experience with multilateral agencies such as the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and major international investment banks such as the Japanese Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), Export-Import Bank of the United States (EX-IM BANK), European Investment Bank (EIB), and Nordic Investment Bank (NIB).
Marcelo Mattos has also worked as a foreign associate at White & Case in New York. He now joins Campos Mello Advogados, regarding us as a well-integrated firm with a high level of expertise in multiple areas, cooperative partners, and strong values and reputation.
