The Energy and Natural Resources team has been in Dubai for the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP28) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Partners and co-heads Alexandre Calmon and Marcelo Frazão, along with Counsel Isabela Morbach, attended in person.

The coverage, which had the participation of the DireitoAmbiental team, brought the most recent decisions of the Conference, which, to date, already includes the commitment made by 118 countries, including Brazil, to invest in electricity generation projects with the capacity to produce 11,000 GW by 2030, from a renewable matrix. Another 20 countries have also pledged to triple nuclear generation by 2050, in a gesture considered historic and which represents an effective goal for changing the world’s energy matrix and reducing the use of fossil fuels.

Representing the CMA, the partners and co-heads Alexandre B. Calmon and Marcelo Frazão, and Counsel Isabela Morbach, participated in decisive discussions such as: “Jumpstarting the Carbon Management Challenge: Fostering global collaboration and inclusive engagement”, Isabela mentioned that “the event dealt with the Carbon Management Challenge initiative, which exists in several countries as a union to accelerate the use of CCS in practice.”
