Francisco Guzmán, a partner at Carey and co-head of the firm’s Venture Capital practice group, has been appointed President of the Chilean Venture Capital Association (ACVC). He will lead the association together with Magdalena Guzmán, Executive Director of ACVC.
Part of Francisco’s role will be to raise awareness and deepen understanding of the importance of Venture Capital investments as a relevant, profitable and strategic national asset. Both Francisco and Magdalena expect the areas of foodtech, biotech, fintech, logistics, healthcare and education to be especially active in 2021.
“Despite not having major legal changes, venture capital in Chile has grown exponentially. Now it is an asset that matters and that did not exist before”, Francisco said in an interview with the local newspaper El Mercurio.
