Secures New Exporter Status for Zhejiang E-Bike Companies, Significantly Reducing Anti-Dumping Duties

Back to All Thought Leadership

E&C’s International Trade Team, led by Ms. Di (Vivian) Wang, successfully secured new exporter status for three electric bicycle (e-bike) manufacturers from Zhejiang Province, China. This achievement resulted in a substantial reduction in anti-dumping duties applicable to their exports to the European Union (EU).

We submitted a new exporter review application to the European Commission (EC). The team then demonstrably cooperated with the EC’s investigation by providing comprehensive and verifiable evidence. This included actively assisting the companies in completing the new exporter review questionnaire and any supplementary inquiries. Ultimately, our efforts demonstrably established that the companies satisfied the EC’s criteria for new exporter recognition.

In EU anti-dumping proceedings, companies that did not export during the original investigation period and consequently lack individual tax rates can leverage the new exporter review process to gain access to the EU market. E&C’s proven track record in this area is exemplified by its success in securing new exporter status for multiple clients. This not only translates to significantly lower anti-dumping duties for the companies involved, but also opens the door to the EU market. E&C’s expertise serves as a valuable precedent for other companies seeking to navigate similar situations.
