Vinson & Elkins Advises Infinium in Project Roadrunner and its $75M Project Equity Investment

Back to All Thought Leadership

Vinson & Elkins advised Infinium in Project Roadrunner, a project to develop a Power-to-Liquids (PtL) eFuels facility in west Texas that will convert waste carbon dioxide and hydrogen produced from renewable power (i.e. “green” hydrogen) into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and other low carbon fuels, and also a $75 million project equity investment commitment from Breakthrough Energy Catalyst to support the development of Project Roadrunner.

This first-of-a-kind commercial-scale PtL eFuels facility is expected to be the largest PtL eFuels project in North America once operational. In tandem with Catalyst’s investment in Infinium, American Airlines and Infinium have entered into an innovative, firm offtake agreement for Infinium eSAF. Project Roadrunner hopes to take advantage of tax incentives for the production of low carbon hydrogen and advanced biofuels that became available following the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act.
