On October 21, 2022, the “DECREE granting tax incentives to encourage the use of electronic means of payment” (Decree) was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation. Through a Transitory Provision it is established that the Decree will be in force from the day following its publication and until December 31, 2023.
Consistent with the decree published during 2021, a tax incentive is granted that may be applied by financial entities and other entities that issue cards under the protection of a brand owner when the owner cardholder can be identified, or through entities participating in networks of means of disposal that provide infrastructure or point-of-sale terminals and services to receivers of payments with credit or debit cards, in terms of the contract they have entered into with the Card Payments Clearinghouse, and in accordance with the “General Provisions applicable to Disposal Means Networks” issued by the Bank of Mexico.
