The CJEU accepts the application of the private copying exception to cases in which a natural person user makes copies for private and non-commercial use by uploading protected works to a cloud storage service

On March 24, the Court of Justice of the European Union resolved a relevant matter regarding copyright (Case C-433/20, Austro-Mechana), specifically on the exception of private copying, an issue that Traditionally, it brings with it doubts, not only about its scope but also how the equitable compensation with which the owners of the affected reproduction right are compensated should be managed.
